Estate Planning Services For Active-Duty Military Families

Here at Heritage Elder Law & Estate Planning, LLC, our veteran attorneys are very familiar with the challenges that active-duty service members and their families face on a regular basis. From unexpected training and deployments to making a move across the country at the drop of a hat, there are a lot of unknowns in this lifestyle.

With so much uncertainty, it is important that you take the time to ensure you are prepared for anything. For example, having a power of attorney in place is essential for any service member, so if they are overseas or otherwise unavailable, they can feel confident knowing that a spouse or another relative can handle any matters that may arise. Whether a spouse or loved one needs access to bank accounts to pay regular bills or to make a bigger purchase like buying a home, it is essential to be prepared in advance.

In addition to powers of attorney, we can help both active-duty and veteran families with a wide variety of other estate planning matters, such as:

Elder Law Services

At Heritage Elder Law & Estate Planning, LLC, we are proud to offer a wide range of elder law services to veterans as well. We understand the ins and outs of retirement benefits provided by the military and can help you plan for the future accordingly. Some of the elder law services we offer include the following:

VA Aid and Attendance Benefit

The VA Aid and Attendance benefit is a higher monthly pension amount paid to a veteran or surviving spouse to assist with the cost of activities of daily living (i.e. feeding, bathing, dressing, etc.) and skilled nursing care. Many veterans plan to utilize this benefit for their long-term care needs, but due to the many eligibility requirements, not everyone will qualify. If you or a family member have applied for the Aid and Attendance benefit but received a denial, Heritage Elder Law and Estate Planning, LLC can help you appeal that decision. Contact our firm to learn how we can help.
